Is my dad the Dalai Lama?!?!?!
Well it all began when my sister, her boyfriend, my uncle, and me were walking through a local Chapters bookstore. They had a page-a-day calendar of the Dalai Lama. The picture on the front caught my eye. The picture they used of the Dalai Lama looked awfully familiar... then it struck me. He looks like my father... The Dalai Lama was born first so I guess Dad hocked his image. Take a look at the evidence below:
Now as you will notice they share some common characteristics. The glasses are a distinct first. They both have windshields in front of their faces. The glasses are also roughly the same shape, unaerodynamically square.
They also have receding hairlines. Although the Dalai Lama may shave his head whereas dad does not, the large amount of forehead on both is quite similar in area. Also my dad's haircut of choice is almost shaved, so most of the time they do have similar hairstyles. Also my dad is somewhat bald.
If you look around their smiles you will notice the "laugh lines" or dimples or whatever they are called. These are similar to both men. The Dalai Lama's are a bit more up in his face than dads, but that is only because dad has his mouth shut for the picture. If his mouth were more open the "laugh lines" would be in a similar spot. Hopefully Heather can sneak me a better picture.
Both have squinty eyes. Given my dad is Caucasian, I don't know how he pulled it off, but he did. And both have somewhat bushy eyebrows.
I have highlighted my earlier points below:
The Dalai Lama was born on July 9th 1935. My dad was born (to my knowledge) January 15th 1944. So there is an age difference. Using my high tech computer I did a computer generated aging on my dad to show what he will look like at in 9 years at age 71 (the current age of the Dalai Lama for those who can't do math.) Look below:
